From that beginning grew 3dcuts.com. I have designed many types of files since then but I keep circling back to buildings. Ledge Village was followed by </span><a href="https://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village" style="color: #619d3f; font-family: Helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-decoration: none; white-space: pre-wrap; word-wrap: break-word;">Tea Light Village</a><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; white-space: pre-wrap;">. And since it is September that means it is time for an update to Tea Light Village. There are two new buildings to add to the collection this year. Can you see them in the village photo?</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPODIWOfZ6RE-pDEOvwi1nwjklXvo6jsZY8Oeg2mXzuzM2kQzykpqdCfc9Vjuuu9TJT8UVPKtyY-eBWSGEF6F4arA9zKveAEuWJi6ZiytgsITYCl-o5HTeyVOn30b4ZyRKyhGtHFxacKGD/s2740/Tea+LIght+village+Dark+3dcuts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1148" data-original-width="2740" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPODIWOfZ6RE-pDEOvwi1nwjklXvo6jsZY8Oeg2mXzuzM2kQzykpqdCfc9Vjuuu9TJT8UVPKtyY-eBWSGEF6F4arA9zKveAEuWJi6ZiytgsITYCl-o5HTeyVOn30b4ZyRKyhGtHFxacKGD/w640-h269/Tea+LIght+village+Dark+3dcuts.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>The are right there in the lower right corner. I have added a Windmill and Well House and The Academy. I thought the village needed another tall structure to balance out the lighthouse from 2020 hence the windmill. The Academy is loosely based on the Old Center School in Coventry, CT. I attended that wooden 4 room school house for the first grade decades ago.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXHh4g9rSdpC8aq1m1cQoLE8t3IbCUCIthq6VgbKvMxFgC-oDtKmBIGaUC3Z3EC0Dq88r9mZymdJsX4SjbLvnDaVxmT8xW4Z_gsmqRicIm3fME-P66VWWgQBLOMZsay4t6KgcNCTDBhwq2/s2048/Tea+Light+Village+Both+2021+3dcuts+WM+tight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1535" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXHh4g9rSdpC8aq1m1cQoLE8t3IbCUCIthq6VgbKvMxFgC-oDtKmBIGaUC3Z3EC0Dq88r9mZymdJsX4SjbLvnDaVxmT8xW4Z_gsmqRicIm3fME-P66VWWgQBLOMZsay4t6KgcNCTDBhwq2/w400-h300/Tea+Light+Village+Both+2021+3dcuts+WM+tight.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;">Both are available at the 3dcuts.com online store. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;">Download the cutting file <a href="https://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village/2021-additions" target="_blank">here</a>: https://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village/2021-additions</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;">Download the tutorials <a href="https://3dcuts.com/tutorial-group-tea-light-village" target="_blank">here</a>: https://3dcuts.com/tutorial-group-tea-light-village</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;">Happy crafting all! I designed it for a friend and have been so touched by how many people have taken that file, modified it, and given it to important people in their lives. It was a card designed to say "I truly care". So many have shared warm and happy stories about their giving it to those people who have too many candles to fit on a regular cake. But we needed a new design! We can't keep using that same one. My husband recently celebrated his birthday and we are of the age of too many candles, so I designed this card for him.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3dcuts.com/birthday-celebrations" style="color: #6dc6dd; word-wrap: break-word;" target="_blank"><img data-file-id="5163050" height="508" src="https://mcusercontent.com/17763215de62768733cd09bb0/_compresseds/0cf0996b-c7ff-40c2-91f9-7c207821edd5.jpg" style="border: 0px; height: 508px; margin: 0px; outline: none; text-decoration: none; width: 600px;" width="600" /></a></div> </div><div style="caret-color: rgb(96, 96, 96); color: #606060; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px;">This card is 36" long and 9" tall. Over the years I have added many, <a href="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village">many more buildings</a> and the village has grown. This year I have revisited Ledge Village because of an idea presented on Pinterest by Cheryl Leclaric. She put one of my Ledge houses into a shadow box and I was impressed. So I went to work with a new house and lamppost. The first house I designed was Tudor Manor and it ended up being too large for the space. I then designed the taller, narrower Porch House to use in a <a href="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village/ledge-village-christmas-eve-shadow-box">Christmas Eve Shadow Box</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYcu_HnYWGrgYJAlkISQ3SKWa6ULXkt-d5IMRRudkCAlO36Sm6LbJYaqi79LCfYxNaeUPks7JpMA4nB36AQEYnSafRGg6RZz620t3OOoyINhu65CVk2SfD9DvOxBZrTFQlmiTAnqp0eRRc/s2048/Christmas+Eve+bright+w+wm+3dcuts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village/ledge-village-christmas-eve-shadow-box" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2000" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYcu_HnYWGrgYJAlkISQ3SKWa6ULXkt-d5IMRRudkCAlO36Sm6LbJYaqi79LCfYxNaeUPks7JpMA4nB36AQEYnSafRGg6RZz620t3OOoyINhu65CVk2SfD9DvOxBZrTFQlmiTAnqp0eRRc/w390-h400/Christmas+Eve+bright+w+wm+3dcuts.jpg" width="390" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This shadow box uses a standard (12 x12 exterior) shadow box I purchased at Amazon. I also got LED fairy lights which I added to it because it just looks beautiful when you light it up!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp3gT2tAuStOzM-KbWItqO2m_o9xqaFY_dwLOQmI1dueaHZiGsDg1_wJT5N_DvYP04c0FUhdrVq-INV1fKI0KJB3iS5bcn9GljPREBL0bxMPz9u8Zt6ftVbYcncJt7JSF2XEZs1Xw_Ufwy/s1682/Christmas+Eve+dark+w+wm+angle+3dcuts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village/ledge-village-christmas-eve-shadow-box" border="0" data-original-height="1682" data-original-width="1500" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp3gT2tAuStOzM-KbWItqO2m_o9xqaFY_dwLOQmI1dueaHZiGsDg1_wJT5N_DvYP04c0FUhdrVq-INV1fKI0KJB3iS5bcn9GljPREBL0bxMPz9u8Zt6ftVbYcncJt7JSF2XEZs1Xw_Ufwy/w356-h400/Christmas+Eve+dark+w+wm+angle+3dcuts.jpg" width="356" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But I still had Tudor Manor which I hadn't used. So I needed to do more. I went on to update the Tower House and thought about a new display. I knew it would look marvelous on a fireplace mantle but I like many don't have one. And then remembered the crown molding photo ledges I use to display photos in the guest room. And I started building a new little village.....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLqDHpu2PzHboXVZSy6L25uXZY19hRDhdaZpWmwXJzk7wQmfAlKF94_CnVTGUxRbzNUYQ_5TGUcr3QJTAHFwQ7WkQZayjWej8CHFZXyPg0lOXkB_kQQZDU_zuEGdc5ToQdfSrhGr9IUxYA/s1800/Ledge+Village+Group+36%2522+straight+w+wm+small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="736" data-original-width="1800" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLqDHpu2PzHboXVZSy6L25uXZY19hRDhdaZpWmwXJzk7wQmfAlKF94_CnVTGUxRbzNUYQ_5TGUcr3QJTAHFwQ7WkQZayjWej8CHFZXyPg0lOXkB_kQQZDU_zuEGdc5ToQdfSrhGr9IUxYA/w640-h262/Ledge+Village+Group+36%2522+straight+w+wm+small.jpg" title="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>This collection includes Tudor Manor, Tower House v2, Chapel, Store 2 and Dormer House all from the various <a href="https://3dcuts.com/ledge-village">Ledge Village Collections</a> I have released over the years. Since 2011 when I started? If it has been a lot of years you will know that each year I design and make my own Christmas Card. Even during these years of declining Christmas Card sending I still do it. And I often share the ideas here- generally not until the following year. I have abandoned that trend. If you are on my Christmas Card list and don't want a spoiler - stop reading here.</p><p>Otherwise....</p><p>2020 will be another zig zag card following on the two previous years. I have just uploaded to my website the Zig Zag Presents Christmas Card.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpS-IOPHa4A1jgwp9_DdNzc-WHZRPkZSGKcddJWPJhbkW4er5G3O1tlTWKOvC4W6otdcwT0OufIB4VZqHTYmONcwz86K7OB1e9XsrNvIcf_Kh0QnoEWzzKRpr4w138TVemXs2HCy_gVjv2/s1500/Christmas+Card+v1+3dcuts+w+wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1098" data-original-width="1500" height="469" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpS-IOPHa4A1jgwp9_DdNzc-WHZRPkZSGKcddJWPJhbkW4er5G3O1tlTWKOvC4W6otdcwT0OufIB4VZqHTYmONcwz86K7OB1e9XsrNvIcf_Kh0QnoEWzzKRpr4w138TVemXs2HCy_gVjv2/w640-h469/Christmas+Card+v1+3dcuts+w+wm.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It is a great crafting design because it is so customizable. Making 3d buildings was one of the initial reasons I purchased my Silhouette and it hasn't disappointed. For 2020 I visited the ocean. The two new additions are a classic lighthouse with keeper's cottage and a lobster shack with little picnic tables.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_is7Dw3OYs75hqoAAdQysmpcdJbGmAZzMW34Ty44Zrjkh7-p2dQq0WfdS3lbYu4pOaHjpn2drDFWiIy3RLP9JUACQjqDWT6-vzWAeL9DmnFK7r1Cn9oXQ43a0PbpRpOxHDxUKfM070jDG/s1572/Tealight+Village+2020+Both++wm+tight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1572" data-original-width="1572" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_is7Dw3OYs75hqoAAdQysmpcdJbGmAZzMW34Ty44Zrjkh7-p2dQq0WfdS3lbYu4pOaHjpn2drDFWiIy3RLP9JUACQjqDWT6-vzWAeL9DmnFK7r1Cn9oXQ43a0PbpRpOxHDxUKfM070jDG/s640/Tealight+Village+2020+Both++wm+tight.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It is good to have another taller structure for the village to add variety. I have been thinking about shadow boxes that feature the experience of riding but not just e-bikes - any type of bike and from that idea grew my new <a href="https://3dcuts.com/shadow-boxes-people-sports/easy-rider-series" target="_blank">Easy Rider Shadow box series</a>.</p><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"> <a href="https://3dcuts.com/shadow-boxes-people-sports/easy-rider-series" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1995" height="625" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE1SnFn6BAuLjeoQXor0OJ9T_-NyN-r8WJLN9vZIBEQnIMIZCd66lmoIQKQcgOR-lJ-kflEk4lrLPzjR4spXKEu8JSOaePBfG3_sM607OUHUYF5W4bhuTnIAbFa-9ah8A6INgagxO8h7Ny/w610-h625/2+cyclists+straight+wm+3dcuts.jpg" width="610" /></a></p><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">My first design was created from tracing photographs of David and myself on our e-bikes. We took the photos and I imported them into Illustrator. I traced the outlines carefully and used that tracing to create the silhouettes. Even though they lack detail they clearly look like us.</p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1542" data-original-width="1848" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPzZeQ5Ew0ywN_f4ppwNG5aZ1xn7aximA_9r4EcwxFsuTA5ieIHpwi7bNUJqlT6dKY2JjBSKVlndiDqT6fZ7m_vmHv4OQKplbzmbgIcLyA9ebYmPoiT6UqHzD7Y1lZDrByYE7Uk-npHKw7/w400-h334/David+on+bike.png" style="font-family: -webkit-standard;" width="400" /></p><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px; text-align: center;"><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">I then continued with this concept to make a file that allowed the crafter to insert any of 4 different riders into the scene. The download comes with a male cyclist, a female cyclist, a single guy on a motorcycle and a couple on a motorcycle all cruising through the mountains. </p><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://3dcuts.com/shadow-boxes-people-sports/easy-rider-series" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2000" height="625" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEAO_1n5nbBY1BxkxS0o_mOrwNo0hztBYHZ_0VdJwsRPQwTNcwFpgwC_wtxQQ_kZ9JecZMQ7PKu_q9tJBPzoSvFAoBVcP_c-rg9SsgyvXzmE-glfLOazMz3JVHeJq_88BAI3V_pTetVCFU/w610-h625/4+easy+rider+2x2+3dcuts.jpg" width="610" /></a></div><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">The download includes all four riders and and the individual layer 1 needed for each. You can easily swap in the rider you want to make. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzb705oUb47Rlr4cnbQ7ADAc6r6d9Qq4WknLCZ4U4o-X6QIzJV9dkFTVgeoPMpoi_5UTlsg3Z2w2I93bXGfmy5lP5OA1cFdjyuTeF3PZ4ZqryhYSfeRVmag7a3Ih-bkO0jn7l4kJ5aQMWH/s2120/4+riders+in+silhouette+3dcuts.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="648" data-original-width="2120" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzb705oUb47Rlr4cnbQ7ADAc6r6d9Qq4WknLCZ4U4o-X6QIzJV9dkFTVgeoPMpoi_5UTlsg3Z2w2I93bXGfmy5lP5OA1cFdjyuTeF3PZ4ZqryhYSfeRVmag7a3Ih-bkO0jn7l4kJ5aQMWH/w625-h193/4+riders+in+silhouette+3dcuts.jpg" width="625" /></a></div><p style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">I design something each year for Valentines Day and I am especially proud of this year’s designs. These are all available at my sister site <a href="http://3dcuts.com/">3dcuts.com</a>. I started working with the concept of nesting hearts. As I worked I discovered hearts don’t nest well. You lose the shape quickly so I instead switched to proportional shrinks. I like what was happening and developed these three files for Valentine crafters to use.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3dcuts.com/heart-valentine-projects/stacked-heart-set" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1327" data-original-width="1600" height="530" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9iESA-11mBD8vZjInQCBVx5it2I3zm17AY4aw8oZW7Pun8uMOoC3-gan_cU7dYbjKS4nRUXheAu8Ma-PomOnOEiZ4tFXtchxEgMlggg6LUX1MjQk9XK2ikUQlXIcVKwnZrFYc1F2EB2lZ/s640/Stacked+Group+WM.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Times; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 12px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Times; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 12px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;">First I design the wall decor piece. I especially love the elegance of the all white design although I have made it in all red. Someone just posted a picture on facebook of their interpretation alternating red and white. How about silver? It was designed to fit in a standard 8 x 8” shadow box although be careful. My 8 x 8” shadow box really measure 9 x 9”. Measure the inside of your shadow box before cutting. It is easy to adjust this file to match whatever square option you have.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3dcuts.com/heart-valentine-projects/stacked-heart-set" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWCeA8gWWUpTtfQlgRvDQaBoIZ-K4aUA_WZOHHclpUSOrDY-zwJvU4PdJYVvY91uO4x9C20kAQzSzX0qvrS1ifR34A8D3za_nZ80G_eOajjV7urnR-iAp2s-s6zBDgCFpZnO8vFdRnJVDk/s320/Stacked+Heart+Wall+Decor+wm.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: Times; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 12px;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-kerning: none;">Save the heart cutouts from the wall decor project. With those you will set to move right into the Stacked Hearts Valentine Card v1 (red). I just adhered the heart cutouts into stacks and applied them to the front of a card. The download includes a “Be My Valentine” cut out sentiment for the inside and a custom envelope cutting file as well.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;">For the 2nd card - Stacked Heart Valentine card v2 (white) I cut the files for the wall decor piece in a smaller scale to fit on a 5 x 5 card. This download also includes the sentiment and the envelope.</span></div>

Although Christmas is months away, the holiday crafting season is here. I just introduced 2 new designs for paper crafters to create using their cutting machines. Both are zig-zag cards based on the same construction design as my <a href="http://3dcuts.com/zig-zag-village/quick-version" target="_blank">Zig Zag Village</a> from 2018<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRweZ_ZdyXs1eeY-IOMAfwbFCXjWhirNAEKtZJLSIG5khWelKd5H_l73gkBh3GKIZjBF6qxlhHr_1FInzD4nW1ZEymf90MDWo8WqlQzT3EcUkvQqlM4zBP1pGModP5rxVRaNk-hZi9MIYX/s1600/Blue+Haze+with+WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1050" data-original-width="1600" height="418" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRweZ_ZdyXs1eeY-IOMAfwbFCXjWhirNAEKtZJLSIG5khWelKd5H_l73gkBh3GKIZjBF6qxlhHr_1FInzD4nW1ZEymf90MDWo8WqlQzT3EcUkvQqlM4zBP1pGModP5rxVRaNk-hZi9MIYX/s640/Blue+Haze+with+WM.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The first is a stunningly elegant Nativity. This is the quickest Zig-Zag card for construction yet.<br />

Once I finished my Valentine's crafting it moved to the top of the lists. Here is a matching set of four owl shadow boxes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgalyS8Wxk7SAVWoVGKl3lFxhKTquvrbJ9Dqd86LN6Ajt4TX_7dNfNqsdUDSeYu0W6AApWCG_Gv-QCYnY6P2jUcbgIsMkGrX_hLaXA6JclTPmV7Nd84BfJTPtD0VbDktzf6yIPhMnEZzFZu/s1600/4+zig+zag+sm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1072" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgalyS8Wxk7SAVWoVGKl3lFxhKTquvrbJ9Dqd86LN6Ajt4TX_7dNfNqsdUDSeYu0W6AApWCG_Gv-QCYnY6P2jUcbgIsMkGrX_hLaXA6JclTPmV7Nd84BfJTPtD0VbDktzf6yIPhMnEZzFZu/s640/4+zig+zag+sm.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Featured are four owls that are native to my home state of Connecticut. From top to bottom are the Great Horned Owl, Screech Owl, Barn Owl and Barred Owl. Each is perched in it's own varied tree and silhouetted against a full moon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are simple to assemble - just a three-layered shadow box. And I have created individual assembly video tutorials for each. When complete each shadow box is about 6.5" square. Here are the links to the files and the tutorials.</div>

A number of you have requested that I offer some of my Star Shadow Boxes in a square format. People want to put them in wooden frames behind glass in order to make a lasting keepsake. I spent the past two weeks re-desgingin the Heart Tree Shadow Box because Valentine's Day is approaching and it would make a great gift for a significant other.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The shadow box is 11" square and designed to fit into the standard one available from Amazon.com. I have also incorporated strings lights that come with a remote control also from Amazon. Links to the supplies are included in the tutorial.</div>

I also added three sets of couples to this download. It comes with a male/female couple or male/male or female/female groupings. You choose the one that matches the couple yo are featuring. And as with the original star shadow box, the letters carved into the tree are customizable.</div>

I decided to incorporate a little springtime cheer with my Valentine design this year to helps us weather through until April.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgacQTWSodNlbRJOJNj1GfntcU_Bds9VUz-Ly7dKm6kpZnwq5I_qrHnoK72Gy8X_nARlAYj8da_-nxyuUvmQ7XrEVyiSeVOGTXI0U7jLbYPrbzKZrnqiTj8quilhTVp7_p-IWWKFNqa5UPH/s1600/Garden+Valentine+W%253AEnvelope+WM+White.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1111" data-original-width="1600" height="444" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgacQTWSodNlbRJOJNj1GfntcU_Bds9VUz-Ly7dKm6kpZnwq5I_qrHnoK72Gy8X_nARlAYj8da_-nxyuUvmQ7XrEVyiSeVOGTXI0U7jLbYPrbzKZrnqiTj8quilhTVp7_p-IWWKFNqa5UPH/s640/Garden+Valentine+W%253AEnvelope+WM+White.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
My Valentine card uses the garden theme to brighten the dreary winter days. This design is based on the same construction concept as Zig Zag Village although a whole lot quicker to assemble because it doesn't have the fiddly details. And yes, it does fold flat for storage or mailing. It fits into a regular 6 x 9" booklet envelope.<br />

Miles send a long a photo of his table decor for Christmas Eve 2018. It made me very happy.<br />

It includes the Moose in Fir Trees file available <a href="http://3dcuts.com/3d-decor-items-assorted/moose-in-trees" target="_blank">here</a> plus the Covered Bridge from Tea Light Village available <a href="http://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village/2018-additions" target="_blank">here</a>. He increased the size of the Covered Bridge file before cutting to match the Moose and Fir Tree file combined it all with trendy Buffalo Plaid. Great attention to detail and a beautiful table setting.<br />

Both are done for 2018.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJqnhCcJKgKBrGZSZD1mxLyF85teZ76UnfgAZK3kOXDutfgxnHMmp-2b8Oqb7qMibeVUqGpFC4QleZ5UPVs4eDJAZiKNK9YogYDDCaByEsBMuI_OxXHxWi6gwC34ujhB8eNkmgdMY9ZWdz/s1600/Merry+Popup+WM+no+Env.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJqnhCcJKgKBrGZSZD1mxLyF85teZ76UnfgAZK3kOXDutfgxnHMmp-2b8Oqb7qMibeVUqGpFC4QleZ5UPVs4eDJAZiKNK9YogYDDCaByEsBMuI_OxXHxWi6gwC34ujhB8eNkmgdMY9ZWdz/s400/Merry+Popup+WM+no+Env.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The card is a contemporary pop-up design featuring a mixture of fonts, colors and patterns. It fits into a standard 6" x9" booklet envelope. The cutting file is <a href="http://3dcuts.com/christmas-projects/merry-christmas-pop-up" target="_blank">here</a>. The assembly tutorial including video is <a href="http://3dcuts.com/merry-christmas-pop-up-tutorial" target="_blank">here</a>. I hope to design a Happy Birthday version soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For ornaments this year I continued working with the cube shadow box theme that I first introduced with a <a href="http://3dcuts.com/heart-valentine-projects/heart-cube" target="_blank">valentine</a>. I designed three for this series including a star, nativity and snowflake. I generally avoid bling but I really liked the touch of glitter on these. I did make an incredible mess in the craft room with the stuff though. I still have sparkles on my clothes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I have just added a Barber Shop with iconic pole and a Covered Bridge with a horse-drawn sleigh to the store at <a href="http://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village/tea-light-village-2018-additions">3dcuts.com</a>.<br />

Here is the Haunted Mansion version. It is complete with cats and bats, and pumpkins. Included is a haunted graveyard and outhouse. Pair the card stock mansion with some webbing and orange LED fairy lights and it becomes spooky, fun Halloween decor.<br />

Yesterday I released a new project that will get you started if you haven't already. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr_uotL020dyIqjkHQ6Tbq7QkjI_m2xMDiKyuybmyA2lPPxd_zP5G2cg6CZrjcwyJBZnhA2zYPLeMbaMLtoOAfyC7XlNnU0WUGTKQM2_z2b9wlY84qmX0BxcGVJwXSj6uTqQ9oU-1S1MVg/s1600/Zig+Zag+Village+with+envelope+tight+WM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1600" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr_uotL020dyIqjkHQ6Tbq7QkjI_m2xMDiKyuybmyA2lPPxd_zP5G2cg6CZrjcwyJBZnhA2zYPLeMbaMLtoOAfyC7XlNnU0WUGTKQM2_z2b9wlY84qmX0BxcGVJwXSj6uTqQ9oU-1S1MVg/s640/Zig+Zag+Village+with+envelope+tight+WM.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Check out my new Zig-Zag Village. I designed this because so many people have commented on how they love <a href="http://3dcuts.com/tea-light-village" target="_blank">Tea Light Village</a> but don't have storage space. I wanted to design a village that folds flat. And Zig Zag Village does just that! Of course this opens up the possibility of mailing it as a gift so I designed it to fit in a standard 6" x 9" booklet envelope.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUF3WLHHMT3FS1Xpo57PhXpiNh-tv3qAy-VvAr0n36wX115Y6YOe0kt-1G08nuha-ZWzHPYez75uk13bpLEMNmfJifCagbL2A5KqrRrYapqJHAFRq0jcItedxSLCoUuHHtqk1YLmXMFT0P/s1600/Zig+Zag+Village+Folded+wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1104" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUF3WLHHMT3FS1Xpo57PhXpiNh-tv3qAy-VvAr0n36wX115Y6YOe0kt-1G08nuha-ZWzHPYez75uk13bpLEMNmfJifCagbL2A5KqrRrYapqJHAFRq0jcItedxSLCoUuHHtqk1YLmXMFT0P/s400/Zig+Zag+Village+Folded+wm.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The village is filled with charming details like window and door frames, porches and Christmas Wreaths. You can light it with standard LED tea lights or there are included bases for installing LED fairy lights. Directions for all of it is included in the <a href="http://3dcuts.com/zig-zag-village-tutorial" target="_blank">online tutorial</a> which is complete with video assembly instructions. And below is a short video showing the ease of the folding.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

This new star design of mine could be used a Christmas decor project but it also works for so many other celebrations. Stars are universal. They are appropriate for patriotic holidays, for awards ceremonies and for many other celebrations. Don't limit yourself. This is one of those files that you can use over and over again. Check out my new Star Light Pillars.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/3OU7lYUbtwE/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3OU7lYUbtwE?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The file includes pillars in different heights, each constructed of 2 simple pieces. Once the design is glued together the negative space forms a geometric angled star. Add an LED tea light and you add a beautiful dimension.<br />
<br />
Here is a Christmas arrangement using the flickering candle-like tea lights.<br />
<div style="color: #0000ee; font-family: Cambria; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-left: 36px; text-indent: -36px;">

Consider adding a Happy 50th sign here and you have a great centerpiece for one of those dreaded landmark birthdays. This also uses the submersible tea lights.<br />

I think my fascination with them started with one of those German kitchen wooden shadow boxes that always hung on the wall in my home growing up. I still love them. My latest shadow box includes a hovering hummingbird sipping nectar from the flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjay7WUeB6qiQtXgqsZ5eI07dnH6WEXkPwxuYKuvOBPQ-TxoPP_xktYx_P4KxmXy1PTmJ_2BRqicyziwzQX7pXgNvqCPUTIfhJgSWUwtHkY3J-X4gwego7q15u4GjsUM_5Tb96CzXG8B719/s1600/Hummingbird+SB+w%253A+WM+angle+tight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1386" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjay7WUeB6qiQtXgqsZ5eI07dnH6WEXkPwxuYKuvOBPQ-TxoPP_xktYx_P4KxmXy1PTmJ_2BRqicyziwzQX7pXgNvqCPUTIfhJgSWUwtHkY3J-X4gwego7q15u4GjsUM_5Tb96CzXG8B719/s640/Hummingbird+SB+w%253A+WM+angle+tight.jpg" width="554" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My designing is a little more stylized this time. I have been skipping around with the bird themes. Some trend more toward realism and others are more stylized. You certainly can change the visual impact by using different papers in the back. I used a pearly pink that I had in my stash. That paper made it clear that the birds and flowers would be simple black and white.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The construction techniques for this shadow box are basic 3D skills. I have made a step-by-step video tutorial to show you how to assemble it.</div>

I have a sister site 3dcuts.com were I sell these files to other crafters. And at this site every download comes with the file in SVG, PNG, DXF and PDF formats. That is because ANY paper crafter can make these files. <a href="http://3dcuts.com/easter/easter-bunny-cube-card" target="_blank">Here</a> is my latest file design as a 3d Easter Card that can fold flat for mailing.<br />

This file can be made using a Cricut or a Brother ScanNCut but it can also be cut by hand using and exacto knife. Yes it takes longer, and it takes skill but many people do make my files with out the cutting machine.</div>
<br />
In each tutorial I provide links for folks with other cutting machines to help in the prep of files.<br />

<li style="word-wrap: break-word;">DXF files can be opened in the basic edition of Silhouette Design Studio but often require modifications. I recommend using the Designer Edition and using svg files.</li>

I was working to create animals with simple lines. In the end I had to switch to Adobe Illustrator on my computer but I did successfully create a series of sketches. The first batch is of kitties and I created the following 4 files:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY7hx0oDMXxiOPsR3rM3YDhbfnlFqJUfaBBR5_5YIqEFqu8TIy5PsZikQY7RqDoo0lMFNk9iV_1OvkB0-E92dETu25xfDnFn4KxtUdKbdGhkh_-1VldLddvERN0KF4eu0nrKHNThdQjj_N/s1600/4+kitty+files+square+w+wm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1575" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY7hx0oDMXxiOPsR3rM3YDhbfnlFqJUfaBBR5_5YIqEFqu8TIy5PsZikQY7RqDoo0lMFNk9iV_1OvkB0-E92dETu25xfDnFn4KxtUdKbdGhkh_-1VldLddvERN0KF4eu0nrKHNThdQjj_N/s400/4+kitty+files+square+w+wm.jpg" width="392" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #5d5b5b; font-family: "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></div>
The possible uses of these are many. I have never used vinyl but I would love one of the mandala designs on a t-shirt with real bows stitched on. Attempting a vinyl project with my Silhouette is still on to to-do list. I know I should but I am a paper crafter at heart. And so with paper I first made a shadow box with the mandala.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #5d5b5b; font-family: "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #5d5b5b; font-family: "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vHf9ZUFmPcdXhbErXkHwamoLqxOeS3mRCuhyJjr-ux4C5pp1jjR05LI1YXMyMFGFyqXXCG7DTTilxLgmQjTEzuQPyk_9O9ZCqQ3MQGO93R_DiLbXY448qRCJfIlcSGsQG5_Ep3OZ2a3R/s1600/Calligraphic+Kitties+-+double+Mandala+3dcuts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vHf9ZUFmPcdXhbErXkHwamoLqxOeS3mRCuhyJjr-ux4C5pp1jjR05LI1YXMyMFGFyqXXCG7DTTilxLgmQjTEzuQPyk_9O9ZCqQ3MQGO93R_DiLbXY448qRCJfIlcSGsQG5_Ep3OZ2a3R/s400/Calligraphic+Kitties+-+double+Mandala+3dcuts.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
And then I made a series of note cards. The creative possibilities here are endless. I'd love see what you can do with your paper stash to create some greeting cards with these files.<br />

To date I have completed three. The first was a little one for a simple project for Valentine's Day. Check out this tutorial on the Cube Heart Shadow Box. This shadow box can folded flat and be mailed!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I got brave and created a video (well actually four) of the steps for assembling my new Heart Tree Star Shadow Box. This is the most complex paper crafting project I have designed but it has some neat engineering in it to help others also create it....and that is so much easier to demonstrate in a video.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1G6xS-JjykqoT8MDn7uP_GIewEfiQTRZHQtOW0aMIfWroWgwNRLGxINiZ5TXDSJwlBc5SRnzUFV8Ts3jkAJIsrUwg9cm3kj_7o7bGt27kBJG858n2b7Q9c_ZfMS_c_-WF1rCkIuRSWcT_/s1600/Heart+Tree+Star+Shadow+Box+by+3dcuts+v5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="733" data-original-width="1024" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1G6xS-JjykqoT8MDn7uP_GIewEfiQTRZHQtOW0aMIfWroWgwNRLGxINiZ5TXDSJwlBc5SRnzUFV8Ts3jkAJIsrUwg9cm3kj_7o7bGt27kBJG858n2b7Q9c_ZfMS_c_-WF1rCkIuRSWcT_/s400/Heart+Tree+Star+Shadow+Box+by+3dcuts+v5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">An exciting special note on this video is that it also applies to the Deer in the Forest and the Horses in the Pasture Star Shadow boxes. I used the same techniques in all three.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">And, although the timing is certainly a little late, I just uploaded the video tutorial for the Star Nativity Shadow Box as well. Maybe you are inspired to start prepping for next Christmas!</span></div>

I have just released the cutting files for 3 new tree ornaments. These are loosely inspired but Polish Folk art. There are 3 different ornaments all similar in design. They each use the curled paper as a 3D element but all can be stored flat!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsxNFOxXx1BtQ947chlgA4NjGCdoifmAF5XVrjRNg6_nd7JtNAO6LaUSR3Wh8CTcQgz00PMI1ZfHimbxnvYViLqmTvGW_Uck1kqrInaA_wxml1BAHE6o1aGSuJ6bdihVe-3SiYK_C80FRB/s1600/Folk+Art+Ornament+by+3dcuts+BLue.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="829" data-original-width="1024" height="323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsxNFOxXx1BtQ947chlgA4NjGCdoifmAF5XVrjRNg6_nd7JtNAO6LaUSR3Wh8CTcQgz00PMI1ZfHimbxnvYViLqmTvGW_Uck1kqrInaA_wxml1BAHE6o1aGSuJ6bdihVe-3SiYK_C80FRB/s400/Folk+Art+Ornament+by+3dcuts+BLue.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also completed the same files in a festive color scheme. Any coordinated pairs could be used so you can customize it to match your Christmas Tree color- scheme- if you have one.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also spent some time re-doing some old files that were only available in the .studio format through the Silhouette Store. New on the 3Dcuts.com site this holiday season are a couple of my earlier card designs.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And a contemporary classic of mine is the HoHoHo trees for table decor. Again new to 3dcuts this year but previously available on the SIL store.</div>
