I have well over 700 photographs from the week especially of the grandkids but I'll spare you those and just share the environment and décor. We stayed in a summer house right on the water on Squam Lake in New Hampshire and the cottage lived up to everything one pictures when they think NH. I lived in the golden glow of knotty pine for the week. The walls, floors, ceiling, trim, cabinets and furniture in every single room was 100% knotty pine. Even the bathrooms.
It was homey to be sure but it was all encompassing. This particular cottage was rented by the director of the Movie "On Golden Pond" while they were filming on Squam Lake.
It even had the required canoe/coffee table near the big fieldstone fireplace.
The hardware and accessories blended right in to the cottage theme. The lamp shades sported pine trees with moose, deer and bears.
The view from the windows was superb!
Early mornings were especially beautiful from the dock right out the porch door.
Together we talked, and laughed, we swam, kayaked, and hiked. We cooked phenomenal gourmet suppers nightly, probably gained weight. Together we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the relaxation, the sharing. What a special week with a special family. Thank you!
Tomorrow I get back to work, responding to emails and comments, checking Pinterest, getting back in the groove. (If I hadn't told you my age in the first paragraph you might have guessed from that word!)
