Birch Bonanza

Inspiration has been right in front of me and I missed it until I saw this post on Apartment Therapy, "Bringing the Outdoors In".

Last year a majestic white birch was blown over in a field near our home.  It is sitting there rotting. However I think it will provide material for several ideas I have bouncing around in my head. Here is the material. How should I use it? Thoughts?

    A cool decorative piece for the corner by the front entryway into the house (between the two doors). It would be an interesting piece to dress up seasonally because white goes the anything. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

    I used one to hang lights from, over my dining room table since I didn't have elec. there. With some decorative twig-like garland (white)it looked very pretty. My hanging lamps were white and red damask pattern.
