Seedpods - Beautiful Design for Free

Seedpods are yet another collection of mine.  For years, when in the right place and at the right time, I have collected seedpods of interesting shapes.  You must act when you see them because they will be gone or changed next time you visit. I inspect them, note their incredible design, photograph them and I stuff my pockets full.

Generally the seedpods are placed in various bowls (another collection!) around the house. This week I used them for my impromptu tablescape. I had purchased some beautiful daffodils but they shriveled in only a few days. Wilting flowers don't help with the dream of spring yet to come!  Instead, I combined my assorted clear vases with collections of seedpods and my table is again a focal point.

Since I have started this undeclared goal of creating beautiful tablescapes from that which is at hand I have discovered that clear, simple vases are invaluable.  If you get them, save them. If you find them at tag sales, buy them.  Having a variety of sizes and shapes on hand leads to endless creative possibilities.  My collection is lacking in a few size variations so I'll have my eyes open for a few critical additions. The 3" and 8" choices are over populated, 5" to 6" needed.
